Unity 250 clip light

Just bought a Unity 250 which has some great sounds, the only slight issue is that no matter what the settings the clip light doesn’t blink even on full gain and drive. The retailer says this is normal and it will only blink if I have a powerful boost pedal in front of it! Is this true? It’s not a big problem but I just want to know.
