The Artisan Thread
I use it with pedals. Here is my pedal board (the white shite dotted around the board is probably from the bottom of my boots! - is it possible to hoover pedal boards? :middi wrote:looks very similar to mine. how do you run it? any pedals?
I use Channel 2 exclusively - I prefer it's voice. Channel 1 has too much gain for me with pedals. As you say - it sounds flabby with extra overdrive at the front end.
I understand Blackstar have changed valve suppliers from EH to TAD. I just had a rectifier valve blow and they changed it out for the newer (and bigger) TAD version. I'm hoping it's more reliable than it's EH predecessor. What EL84's did you exchange yours for? And do they have to be "matched" or did you just bang 4 new ones in? Better / worse / same as the stock ones?

I run mine through a Dr Z Airbrake attenuator for home practice - lovely piece of kit. Full overdriven tone at low volume. Fantastic.
I think the tubes they use are EH but they are changing brand to TAD (Tube Amp Doctor)jman wrote:Anybody know the brand of tubes used in the Artisan 15? I really love my 15 combo, however I wish the ecc83 channel had a just wee bit more gain. I thought I would experiment with a few different tube combinations to see if I could juice the gain up a bit. Outside of that, I think these are incredible amps and a great value for the money.
I haven't retubed my A30H but do use a good attenuator and it overdives at very low volume.the dirty tricks wrote:Hi all,
Has anyone retubed the Artisan 30 and got it to overdrive at lower volumes?
Cheers!
I only use my Fender Deville clean, and Gassing for a more versitile clean amp. I like to run ALL my drive/dist via a Blackstar Dual & Distx.
So basically, the cleans are all that matter. My Deville is 60w 4x10 and it is stupidly loud. Looking at Blackstar amps, it seems the Artisan 30 ticks the boxes, not sure what's better, the combo or the head/cab.
On paper the 30H seems a better idea, I would prefer to run through 2x12 and have the option to upgrade to 4x12 should I want to. (I would imagine 2x12s are powerful enough, right?)
Would love to hear peoples thoughts on this amp, does it take pedals well? I love the sound of the 30/10 watt switch, seems like a great way to crank it!
Cheers
