What a beautiful looking Amp! wow. nice. until i plugged it in. I bought the 100 watt
for a reason. All the reviews i've read, heard, watched had gain for days. both my
OD channels are cranked to 10 and its like their halfway or something. There's gain
but not at all what i was expecting. Has anyone else experienced this? Im using a strat
with a Lil Screaming Demon. I demo amp's at GC all the time and the gains there with
other amps so i know it's not the guitar. What is up? Frustrating!!!!!
BLACKSTAR HT-100 NOT AS ADVERTISED ?
Amps like this one should have loads of gain even on low volume! That's why there's a mastervolume and controls for gain and volume on the od channel. It should have loads of gain, so don't be afraid to contact the selling party if that isn't there!
Just to make sure, there's not a problem with the electronics on your guitar, the cables, the settings on the amp, the cab, and so on? If neither of that is the case, than yes, you should return it.

Just wanted to check if you ever found out your issue?
I'm a new owner of an HT 100 and I'm finding a similar problem, I feel like my OD1 and OD2 (but especially OD 1) are not providing the gains they should compared to what I"m seeing for people playing or reviewing it on YouTube. As this amp came right out of the box at my house, I'm not quite sure how its supposed to sound and if the tubes are wonky. Thing is, I'm using it with a low-end 4x12 and I'm sure the speakers suck, but even with the emulated out to my computer it sounds the same, like I'm missing out on the gain that should be there. I know amps like this need to be cranked, but even at the master volume that I see people set to in the videos, its not the same.
OD2 actually sounds pretty good but it really has to be up there (at least 1-2 o'clock or more) to be able to get some pinch harmonics and a nice metal sound. On OD1, from the videos I've seen, I should be able to get a good hard rock overdrive sound, but even when I dime it, the gain just isn't there and it sounds thin.
I guess the best thing to do is take it back to my store where I got it (authorized dealer) and have them check it out, try it with their cabs/guitars/cables etc. I wanted to ask here first before I look like a dumbass hauling it back into the store.
